There is always a lot going on at Claude Elementary! This page will help keep you informed about all of the great things happening at our school.

Handbook Changes

Claude Elementary has their very own handbook separate from Junior High and High School. Here are some points of possible interest:

  • pg. 8 - Tardies
  • pg. 22 - Dress Code
  • pg. 22 - Pride Program
  • pg. 33 - Foods of Minimal Nutritional Value
  • pg. 49 - Cell Phones
  • pg. 76 - Discretionary Absence Request Form (Prior Arranged Absence)

Pride Program

The district is starting a new program called “The Pride Program.” It will start over every six weeks. We have made some changes that will suit elementary students better, so if you have a student in the junior high or high school, you will want to be sure to check their rules. Knowing that the handbook is a living document, please replace page 22 in the handbook with the following changes to the elementary Pride Program rules:

  • No tardies - No unexcused absences - No office referrals
  • Only one discipline referral to the office for the 1st and 2nd six week periods. No discipline referrals to the office for the 3rd through the 6th six weeks.
  • No more than two unexcused absences. For us to excuse an absence, you must bring a note within 72 hours of the absence to the elementary office. Telephone calls will not count. If you leave at any time during the day and do not return with a doctor’s note, this will count as an unexcused absence. We will accept faxed doctor’s notes up to 72 hours at 226-2244. Examples of an unexcused absence might include:
    • checking your child out to leave for lunch
    • or leaving school early for personal reasons such as ballgames or out-of-town trips.

This program is fun and exciting. We want students to be able to earn a t-shirt and possibly participate in a Pride Program event each six week period. We welcome parent attendance at our programs in the new gym. We will have information on dates and times in your child’s newsletter as well as on the marquee. We look forward to implementing this program, and we know we can all work together to make it great for the students.
